From the Committee

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these trying times while your Clubhouse safely re-opens and the team adapts to the new regulations to ensure that we can continue to offer you a great service at Hawks’ in a safe and socially distanced setting. The Clubhouse will reopen on the 2nd of December, and you and your guests will be able to enjoy all that 18 Portugal Place has to offer, as long as you abide by the below guidelines.

Modified Operations

  • The Clubhouse will work on a strict booking-only basis, for groups of 6 (or fewer)
    • Members can reserve a table through the calendar on the Events page
      • Events should display as a list on your phone (delete your cookies!)
    • Last orders for food and drinks are 9 pm and 10 pm, respectively
    • Those arriving without a reservation will be turned away
    • Bookings for the week (Tuesday – Sunday) will be open from Thursday at noon
    • Members have up to 48 hours before their reservation to cancel
    • A £10 penalty fee will be incurred for no-shows
    • Members may swap their reservation with another member, as long as they notify the Steward in advance
    • At least a week’s notice must be given to book private functions
  • The Clubhouse is now open for lunches as well as evening service
  • We will provide table service only – there will be no ordering at the bar
  • Payment will be taken at your table and will be card and contactless only
  • Masks must be worn when moving around the Clubhouse – you may take them off when seated
  • Each member may bring up to 2 guests each
  • Opening times are different (see below or here) and will be continuously updated according to government regulations
    • Two seating sessions will be available for members in the evening
    • Members and their guests must adhere to these seating times and vacate the premises 15 mins before the start of the next session
    • Only one session may be booked per day per member

Tuesday & Wednesday: Lunch – 12pm – 2pm
Thursday: Brunch – 12pm – 2pm

Seating Times – Evening
First sitting: 6pm – 7:45pm
Second sitting: 8pm – 9:45pm

Dinners are available Tuesday through Sunday when booked in advance

The Steward and the Committee reserve the right to eject any members and their guests from the Clubhouse, and/or suspend their use of the Clubhouse, if they do not abide by these guidelines.


COVID-19 Guidelines

  • Do not come to the Clubhouse if you have a fever, cough or are not feeling well
  • Hand sanitiser, available at the doors of the Clubhouse, must be used upon entering
  • Masks must be worn when moving around the Clubhouse – you may take them off when seated
  • Tables for indoor dining spaced for social distancing and are limited to 6 per group
    • No groupings or pushed tables will be allowed
  • Reservations are required
  • Condiments are on request only, we will not be pre-setting these items
  • Do not congregate in groups, and remain at social distance standards
  • Hand sanitiser and bins will be available inside for your convenience
  • There are to be no more than 40 people in the Clubhouse, excluding staff, per session
  • Staff will provide cutlery in roll-ups when you are seated at your table
  • One-time disposable paper menus will be used, or menus can be accessed online through the QR codes stuck on each table
  • One-in, one-out system for the bathrooms


Room arrangements

  • The members’ lounge can be used for dining or drinks, with a maximum of 2 groups of 6 people at either end of the room
  • The dining room is split into 2 rooms, which can each accommodate up to a group of 6 people
  • The bar can accommodate 5 tables of up to 2 people each for drinks only
  • The President’s room (top floor) will not be available for the time being, as we adjust to these new operations


How your staff is preparing for table service

  • The Clubhouse has procured a sufficient supply of sanitising solution, approved for multiple applications in killing the strands of COVID-19
  • Hand sanitiser is being placed strategically around the Clubhouse for quick and easy staff and member use
  • Regular housekeeping protocol of sanitising all touchpoints every hour, with a deep sanitising of all indoor furniture before member services in the morning and evening
  • Posting signage at all entrances, restrooms and walking areas, reminding of social distancing, and wearing masks while moving through the Clubhouse
  • The restrooms are open for your use and will be sanitised in between member use and/or every half hour during member service times
  • Staff will be cleaning tables & chairs in between each use
  • We have large quantities of disposable masks. Staff will be wearing them at all times when delivering food. The team will be wearing gloves as well as following a strict sanitising and handwashing protocol. Should you need a mask or gloves for your personal use, please ask.
  • The kitchen team will be wearing gloves and masks
  • We will be using normal plates & glassware, all of which will be washed twice before new use
  • Detailed front of house, back of house, and housekeeping protocol for sanitising, hand washing, and cleaning before during & after shifts
